The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), founded in 1919 and headquartered in London, UK, is the world's largest and leading professional body of management accountants, and also one of the founding members of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). As part of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA & CIMA), CIMA has over 229,000 members and students in 188 countries and regions worldwide, working in major industrial and commercial enterprises, public sectors and non-profit organizations. CIMA focuses on training professionals working in management positions in the accounting industry, offering training and qualifications in management accounting and related subjects, funding academic research, developing thought leadership reports, monitoring professional standards, and ensuring members adhere to ethical guidelines. In 2017, CIMA officially merged with the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) to form the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, jointly launching the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) qualification.
